Regular meetings are held at 7pm on the fourth Tuesday of each  month. We meet at the Goldsmith's Center at the Memphis Botanical Garden. (click for directions ).  There may be times due to scheduling of the Gardens and / or our guest speaker / demonstrator that the date and time may change.

Meeting notices are sent to members as well as any one else who has added themselves to our E-Mail notification list. But as always it is best just to check the site for any changes, so please add your name to our email list .

2012 Schedule:

JANUARY (Tuesday, Jan. 24, 7pm) Program:  Terry Stamps will do a basic styling demonstration on a Green Mound Juniper or Shimpaku Juniper to show how to get started on raw bonsai material. He will cover overall design, branch placement and possibly do some wiring.
 
FEBRUARY Program: May be skipped due to Kathy's workshop being the next weekend.  Suggestions for a short program are desired.
 
KATHY SHANER WORKSHOP (March 3 and 4):
Saturday, March 3 will be lecture/critique on bring your own tree(s). Trees should have had some previous styling or come from a previous workshop. NO RAW NURSERY STOCK!!  Kathy will talk about selected trees regarding their styling, species growth, care, and improvement of the tree toward a better bonsai.  Cost for Saturday's lecture will be $50.00/person. Please acknowledge below if you plan on attending this day.

March 4, Sunday, will be an all day workshop on one or two trees brought by the attendee. Maximum of 6 persons for this workshop (first come, first in). Cost will be $125.00/person.  Observers are welcome and encouraged. Observer fee will be $10.00/person.

Attendees for these workshops must be paid-up members of the Memphis Bonsai Society.

MARCH 27 Program: Bjorn Bjornholm will be doing either a demo tree or discussing trees styled or re-wired from his previous demonstrations.  A one-day workshop with Bjorn in April (date to be determined) will also be possible. Workshop will be limited to 6-8 members. Contact Darryl if interested. Cost will be $125-150.00/person based on attendance.
FUTURE Programs: Suggestions for rest of the year's programs are desired. E-mail or call Darryl at the email address or phone number provided above.

Reminder: Dues are due.  Single membership-$30.00.  Family membership is $40.00 and Long Distance membership is $15.00.  Dues are to be sent to Fred Nowak at 2323 White Ash Cove, Memphis, TN 38119 with checks being made out to the Memphis Bonsai Society.

 If you have any SUGGESTIONS FOR PROGRAMS, you can e-mail them to Fred and he will insure they get to the right person (s) for consideration.

Foul Weather Policy
Meetings will take place if the Memphis Botanic Garden is open. Sometimes the weather sneaks up on us at the last minute. It is next to impossible to contact members in many cases when something like that comes up at the last minute: so, should there be a question of whether there will be or will not be a meeting, simply call the Memphis Botanic Garden (576-4106) to check and see if it will be open.
