Regular meetings are held at 7pm on the fourth Tuesday of each  month. We meet at the Goldsmith's Center at the Memphis Botanical Garden. (click for directions ).  There may be times due to scheduling of the Gardens and / or our guest speaker / demonstrator that the date and time may change.

Meeting notices are sent to members as well as any one else who has added themselves to our E-Mail notification list. But as always it is best just to check the site for any changes, so please add your name to our email list .

Kurt Young on Decidious Trees
Let us all welcome back Kurt Young for a discussion on DECIDIOUS TREES. Kurt works at Brussel's Bonsai Nursery. Kurt Young is a bonsai artist and a Japanese Garden Designer. He will do a demonstration on a Japanese Maple Grove.  Members are asked to bring a deciduous tree with them so that they can have the trees critiqued and entertain suggestions for improvement.

Kathy Shaner will cover Shohin Bonsai and anyone can bring a tree she has worked on before OR other trees that have been trained for bonsai. No rough beginner trees please or trees still in black plastic nursery pots. The key word is "Shohin". Do you know what size of Bonsai that is?

Accent Plants
Our very own, Darryl Bailey, present an evening of Accent Plants. We use Accent Plants in our presentation a the Mother's Day Exhibition in May. These plants, of which there are a very wide variety and size, help in the transition and/or flow from one bonsai to another. Accent Plants in themselves can also be an exhibition.
If you have an "Accent Plants" that you believe will be an addition to the Mother's Exhibition and / or you would like to see if they complement your bonsai bring them both to the April meeting.

April 22, 2008: Tuesday, 7 pm
Bring Your Own Tree Critique Nite / Preparation For Mother's Day Exhibition
This is the night for you to bring your tree(s) that you would like to get some advise on. On whether it is shaping, what type of pot to place it in OR which branch do I cut! Also if you have a tree or trees that you are thinking about places in this years Mother's Day Exhibition - this is the night to bring it for suggestions.

May 9 thru 11, 2008: Friday Nite ?pm, Saturday and Sunday 9-5pm
Mother's Day Exhibition - Saturday and Sunday
held at and in conjunction with the Memphis Botanical Gardens
Friday Nite is setup nite: Darryl Bailey is the coordinator of this event and will let us know what time to have our trees there for setup.
Saturday and Sunday are the actual days of the Exhibition at the Gardens. We will be asking for volunteer workers for all three days.
